Which Oscar movie should I see next?

I already say Three Billboards, and thought the acting was great, so I wasn't surprised to see that it won a couple of Oscars. I haven't seen any of the other movies that have been getting buzz lately - which one should I see next? I've heard mostly good but mixed reviews about these three. Leave a comment (without spoilers please) if you have a strong opinion!

Were Biggie and Tupac Overrated?

I just watched the first episode of "Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G." and it got me to thinking. I've been on this earth for a while now and you'd have to be living under a very large rock to not have heard the names Biggie Smalls or Tupac Shakur. More so, you would have to live under an even bigger rock if you haven't heard of the murder conspiracy involving both these rappers. I'm a pretty open-minded person, especially when it comes to music; it happens to be a critical pillar of my life. I've listened to both Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac among other rap artists of the same era; I actually really enjoy rap specific to that time period over others. However, I don't find their music all that great; definitely not as relevant as the events that surrounded their names.

I believe the murders of Biggie and Tupac gave the world a false perception of their work because, simply put, dying will make you famous (especially when you die tragically young). More than that, I think it prompts people to exaggerate or embellish certain aspects of a person's life to create a swelled sense of purpose or accomplishment if only out of respect. I think that's the case here. If Biggie and Tupac hadn't been killed, I believe their music wouldn't be appreciated nearly as much. I honestly don't see anything exceptional about it, in a general sense but, especially apart from other acts of the time. In fact, it's more often than not I find myself hearing about or discussing the conspiracy itself over the rappers' actual work.

So, there it is. Would you agree? Are they overrated or deserving of the hype?

If Superpowers were real...?

I am writing a book where a portion of the population (say a tenth) is suddenly given superpowers overnight. That is they go to sleep normal one night and wake up the next morning with superpowers. How long do you think it would take for the world to recognize and accept that this was happening and start to take steps to deal with this revelation? An important bit of information about the world I'm creating: abilities only manifest when people activate them, so there is no way to test if people have them (like in the X-men franchise and the mutant gene for example).

On a side note. I am attempting to use as many unique powers as possible in this world so as to avoid the overused standards such as super strength, speed, flight, etc. To that end, if anyone answering this Quandree has a unique superpower they would like to contribute to my literary efforts I would be ever so thankful to hear your idea in the comments.

The Last Jedi

Star Wars fans - what did you think of The Last Jedi? Love it? Hate it? I've heard so many conflicting opinions.

Are you going to see the new Star Wars?

Just a quick poll here on people's gauge on the new Star Wars flick. Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released world wide last Friday and has obviously been getting a lot of hype; it's Star Wars after all. I recently saw it and thought it was pretty good. I'm not a massive fan boy but, I do love me some Star Wars. I've seen all of them dozens of times, and as hesitant as I was hearing that Disney would be producing another trilogy, I have thoroughly enjoyed the new films.

So, I'm just wondering what everyone else's take on the new films are. Are you excited? Infuriated? Indifferent? Leave a comment telling me your take on the Star Wars series. I'm interested know your thoughts.

Stupidest man alive?

Seriously, is this guy insane? He's launching himself into space in a homemade rocket to try to prove the earth is flat.

What Netflix show should I watch next?

There are SO many shows on Netflix now that I hear people talking about that when I start flipping through to find something to watch, I get overwhelmed by all of the options. I've narrowed it down to these, but can't decide which one to binge watch first. If there's one that you really think is can't miss, tell me in the comments. Thanks!

"If ya gonna be dumb, ya gotta be tough"

I was recently watching the movie Jackass 2 (Stick with me here). And, honestly, Jackass is one of my favorite acts of all time. Something about the simple nature of care-free fun and coordinated anarchy really appeals to me. But, I also realized that for all the humor and wild, childish antics, there was a price. It doesn't take a lot of research to find that the Jackass crew have not been well off. Yeah some bounce back, some are still struggling, and a few are lucky enough to manage to stay away from obscurity. But, for the most part, I can't help but feel being them isn't all that fun.

Then I told myself, "Well they're making a ton of money, so no big deal." But money doesn't mean a lot when you pay with your dignity. You have to imagine, that for all the laughs, there was a question of integrity watching them do the things they did. I mean, do you respect them in the same way you'd respect any other entertainer; a brilliant musician, a renowned actor, etc? It's kind of sad really, because I feel that no, people don't respect them the same way, and I feel that's what's partially responsible for the lot of them having such a hard time after their time in the light faded.

So, here's my question. What's your price? What amount of money would it take for you to involve yourself in the life threatening and twisted debauchery that would make you famous but affect the way people view you? What would it take for you to be a jackass?

Worst font: Comic Sans or Papyrus?

Lychidesign's Side

The two fonts that have made people and designers alike cringe are Comic Sans and Papyrus, but which one is the worst? My vote goes to Comic Sans. It's iconic for being the worst font that everyone has overused to emulate a handwritten font. It's used for everything from Kid's parties to restaurant menus, and the sight of it makes me cringe.

IncunabulumBruxer's Side

Papyrus has got to be the worst font. It's used in Asian restaurant menus to represent Asian calligraphy and manuscript. It's both cultural appropriation and a bad font in general.
